In today’s world, there are millions of successful products that are being sold on Amazon by people all over the world. Despite the obstacles that they face, these people have still been able to overcome them and go on to achieve massive success. How have they done this? By possessing a mindset that stands out from the rest.
The #1 reason why I believe a lot of people struggle with Amazon FBA product research is that they have unrealistic expectations. They look for the perfect product; something that has a lot of demand and zero competition. Good luck! A perfect product doesn’t exist.
Instead, you’ve got to find a way to differentiate your product slightly from the competition, whether that’s changing the price of the product or modifying the packaging in some way. You need to put in the work to build an online brand to attract people to your product while adding value. You could do this by creating YouTube videos, blogging, building an email list, or creating a Facebook page.
Amazon has created a platform so that you can sell and reach their millions of customers IF you funnel traffic and sales into your Amazon listing and product. If you can do this, Amazon will reward you for it. However, they won’t promote your product if you aren’t willing to put in the work.
This is what it takes to successfully sell on Amazon and build a Parthenon that has multiple pillars, versus a one-legged stool that is solely dependent on Amazon. Instead of just looking at a product, choose a niche. What is a market that you could build your business around? There are so many different niches and markets to choose from.
Let’s use yoga as an example.
Think of all of the products that you could sell in this niche – yoga mats, towels, bottles, blocks, or clothing. If you build your brand in this niche, I encourage you to start with a small product and strive to differentiate it from your competitors in some way. You could add an eBook about the 20 different yoga poses that accompany the yoga block.
Your first product doesn’t have to be a multi-million dollar one. Maybe it only makes you a couple thousand dollars per month. It’s not the money that you make that matters. Rather, it’s the experience and knowledge that you gain by going through the product research process.
The reason why a lot of people struggle with Amazon FBA product research is that they don’t know what to expect. I encourage you to get your feet wet and learn from your first product. Once you have some experience under your belt, then you can identify other product opportunities.
